Regular VPN Servers ProtonVPN US servers high load

Due to a large Call of Duty update, ProtonVPN servers in the US are under high load, which is expected. However, performance is unaffected as we have safeguards in place to prevent performance degradation despite the high load. More information can be found here:

Secure Core Servers ProtonVPN maintenance of Secure Core Iceland and Sweden servers

As part of the continuous improvements in terms of security and performance of our infrastructure, for the days of 16 and 17 of July part of the ProtonVPN Secure Core servers in Sweden and Iceland will be unavailable for a limited time.

Regular VPN Servers ProtonVPN major infrastructure upgrade

As part of a major infrastructure upgrade to all ProtonVPN servers, for the next weeks, in a progressive way, some group of ProtonVPN servers will be each time in maintenance mode and unavailable for some hours in order for the upgrade to be applied. We are sorry for the inconvenience. This upgrade will pave the way for major new functionalities to be unveiled in the upcoming months.

Regular VPN Servers ProtonVPN Dutch servers network outage

Due to an upstream network provider outage part of ProtonVPN servers in The Netherlands are currently unavailable. We are in contact with the provider to have this problem resolved as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Android < 5.0 clients no longer supported and Windows 7 issues for ProtonVPN and ProtonMail clients

We have upgraded the security of our APIs. As a result, devices running Android versions older than 5.0 may no longer be able to use the ProtonMail or ProtonVPN app. Additionally, Windows 7 users running ProtonVPN apps earlier than 1.12 should update the app to the latest version.

Streaming Services ProtonVPN streaming in the UK currently affected

Due to an upstream provider hardware failure, part of the usually supported streaming services in UK are currently not available, in particular Netflix. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we are working in order to restore the service as soon as possible.

Regular VPN Servers ProtonVPN French servers in maintenance mode

Due bandwidth issues affecting part of ProtonVPN French servers, the servers are in maintenance mode in order to allow the upstream data-center support to perform the necessary tests and resolution to the problems. We apologize for the inconvenience.

All Proton services partially blocked in Russia

We have received reports that Proton is currently blocked in Russia. We are reaching out to the appropriate authorities to get the block lifted as soon as possible. While this block continues to affect ProtonMail, ProtonVPN is not blocked.

At the moment, we suggest using ProtonVPN to connect to one of our VPN servers outside of Russia to access ProtonMail.

If you are not a ProtonVPN user yet, you can download and install the ProtonVPN application for your device, log in with your existing ProtonMail account, and connect to a server. You can find a complete setup guide for new users here:

Another workaround to access the ProtonMail website is to use a TOR browser by following the steps below:

  1. Download the TOR browser for your device here:
  2. Install the TOR browser
  3. Once the browser is installed, launch it and you will be able to access the Proton websites
