All Proton services partially blocked in Russia Wednesday 29th January 2020 11:02:00

We have received reports that Proton is currently blocked in Russia. We are reaching out to the appropriate authorities to get the block lifted as soon as possible. While this block continues to affect ProtonMail, ProtonVPN is not blocked.

At the moment, we suggest using ProtonVPN to connect to one of our VPN servers outside of Russia to access ProtonMail.

If you are not a ProtonVPN user yet, you can download and install the ProtonVPN application for your device, log in with your existing ProtonMail account, and connect to a server. You can find a complete setup guide for new users here: https://protonvpn.com/support/protonvpn-setup-guide/

Another workaround to access the ProtonMail website is to use a TOR browser by following the steps below:

  1. Download the TOR browser for your device here: https://www.torproject.org/download/
  2. Install the TOR browser
  3. Once the browser is installed, launch it and you will be able to access the Proton websites

Since the block is persistent please follow up on how we are addressing it at: https://protonmail.com/blog/anti-censorship-alternative-routing/.

Connectivity for Russian users towards ProtonVPN services has been restored.
