High load on ProtonVPN servers Thursday 11th June 2020 16:55:26

We are experiencing very high load on several servers in several countries out of the ordinary. We are investigating in order to solve the problem as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The situation has been normalized.

A solution to properly limit this particular traffic in order to leave all regular being able to access ProtonVPN servers is being deployed and traffic is coming back to normality.

The problem seems to be coming from Activision and their bungled Call of Duty update: https://bbc.com/news/technology-53008182 Essentially Activision is overloading our servers due to users downloading the massive (85GB) CoD update. We're making some adjustments to reduce the impact.
